Watching The Weather For The Late Weekend.

Well, I have been going through some of the CPC / Climate Prediction Center maps today as well as all the weather models! With all this talk of storms on the way I went through every map very carefully! And I did fine a few things!! One of which was our next chance at some rain / thunder. And the other is our rainfall amounts! Yes, you can see this map below from the CPC showing the whole story for the next 6 to 10 day outlook.

You can see we are in the Green color with the "A" symbol. Which as you know means ABOVE Average! Yes, I think we have seen enough rainfall for a little while after that quick 3.10" inches Lafayette picked up last week with all those training thunderstorms and what not! Well, we are looking for our next chance for thunderstorms this week closer to the late weekend through late Monday. These storms are going to follow along another cold front that will push through our area. The thing that we really need to do is Time this front. When this front makes it's move on us that is when the rain will as well. I do think we will have a nice day today through early Sunday! Take a look at your weekend outlook map I put together for you below. Yes, Saturday is looking rather good with Mostly to Partly cloudy skies and really light winds between 5 and 10 mph. Highs in the middle to upper 70s and lows in the lower 50s. Then as you can see I currently have a slight chance of rain later on Sunday night into Early Monday. Otherwise I think we will see the better chance of rain sometime Monday! and then Tuesday! However we will talk more about that and really fine tune it as it gets closer. Really right now with how far out it is the weather models are only going to be able to give us an idea. It really is to soon to say anything is set in stone! Timing will change!! ;)

Here is your forecast for today below!

Quick Cast Blog Cast....................

Today look for Mostly Sunny Skies and mild temperatures in the middle to upper 70s around 77* degrees. Winds will be light and calm between 3 and 5 mph. As we head into tonight we will see a few more clouds start to move into the area, However over all still looking Partly Cloudy. Lows will be a little cooler then most of us are use to at a crisp 50* degrees.....

And last but not least the Iridium 33 (Wreckage) will be passing over the Lafayette area tonight! Will we be able to see it???? That all comes down to our cloud cover! I will check back later on this evening to let you know! Until then here is a little something about the Iridium 33, below.....

Iridium 33 (wreckage)
BRIGHTNESS: 2 (like stars in the Big Dipper)
Iridium 33 was severely damaged on Feb. 10, 2009, when it collided with the Cosmos 2251 satellite over northern Siberia. Nevertheless, a substantial piece of the original satellite seems to have survived--including the main mission antenna which sometimes glints brightly in orbital sunlight as the wreckage tumbles at a rate of 4.7 seconds. Try looking for Iridium 33 when it passes overhead. You may see nothing, but the possibility of a glint makes it worth a try.
