Roads are snow covered! And there is patchy ice in areas! I was out scooping out some of my neighbors and went down do to icy spots! So always be careful!!!!!
We do have a little bit of drier air trying to work in however I don't think it will effect it much at all at this point! We look good!!!!! And the snow lovers are happy!!!!!
I will have the final snowfall amounts on here later along with some snowy pictures!
Real quick here is a few road reports below! Take it slow and get ready for the COLD!!!!! ;)

Alberta Clipper is moving in! And it has below zero wind chills with it!
We seem to have the moisture as well! Which is a big help for snow lovers! The snow is already in IL, and moving in! Now currently I'M looking for snowfall in Lafayette between the 1" and 3" inch range! Now this system does have the chance for some 2" to 4" inches in isolated areas! However for now I feel better with the 1" to 3" inch range for Lafayette! But now you know there is the possible slight chance!
For down south of Lafayette down around I70 will be closer to an inch of snow!! Now for all areas who do see snow remember it will be a light fluffy snow! There for even light winds will blow it all over the place! Which will make driving hard and will lessen visibility! we are currently looking for the winds to be between 15 and and 20 mph with gusts to 28mph! So allow yourself more time to get to work and school in the morning! For the snow is expected to start by the time most get ready to go out! Around 4:am or 5: am in the morning! Newton and Jasper counties are looking for snowfall around 2" and 4" inches which means they could see closer to Three and a Half inches!
So this is all starting closer to the morning rush! This is when you all do your part to drive safe allow extra time and be careful!!!!! For the roads will become snow covered fast!
Now the snow is not all we need to be worried about! That's right we need to watch out for the COLD POLAR AIR!!!!! We will see out Temperatures today be really cold! We are looking for temperatures today around a high of 10* degrees and a low around 1* degree! Now if we add in the wind chills we will see the temperatures fall even more take a look below!
I think the word BITTER COLD sums this forecast up! Don't you? :) We see the -11* wind chill in the daytime today to the low wind chill of -22* degrees! WOW! This is dangerous cold and there is colder weather to come! I know you would not think we could not get much colder! Well if we look at Thursday we will see the daytime wind chill high will be around -22* degrees and the wind chill Low around get this! -31* Degrees!!!!! WOW this is frost bite weather in less then ten minutes! Keep a warm blanket and a Winter survival kit in your car! You can never be to ready! This type of wild Weather is what Indiana is all about! If you want to forecast then you come here! ;)
We will need to where the layers and keep all parts of our skin covered! Anything not can get frost bite! I would say if you don't have to go out then it would be best to stay home!!!
I still say we can look forward to the weekend as we wont be a whole lot warmer but it will feel like a heat wave compared to today and tomorrow! I love the cold but -31 below with wind chill is just to cold for me! Now we have Wind chill watches out for some counties around the area and Winter weather advisories out as well! Again here is a link to keep up with the latest watches and warning! Just click!
I will check back. I will see you soon! And thanks for your post!!! Keep safe and warm! Oh and keep your faucets with a steady stream for the next few days to keep the pipes from freezing up!!!!! I always do this when it is below zero!!! Also you can send in your snowy pictures to me at storm18mini@aol.com and I would love to post them here on the Indiana weather blog!
I'll check back later on!!! Be careful on the roads this morning!

The clipper is coming!
As of 11:00pm.
I just wanted to pop in before the big forecast update! To say that this system is holding together rather well at this time! There is a good amount of moisture with this system and like I said is holding together well! It is now in Springfield IL,! I have been watching it keep its form for the past few hours! Our temperatures are currently at 6.4* degrees and look to be holding steady! This means that as the snow falls it will be a light and fluffy snow! So even the lightest wind will blow it around! SO you will have to take your time as you head out!
Now I have to get the next blog post ready and I will check back in about an hour! with the latest!! See you then!

As of 9:22pm.
Just thought I would pop in real quick
I have been watching things closely tonight and as of now things are still looking on track! The clipper is now starting to drop snow flurries in Carthage, Rushville, and areas around in IL, and it still looks to be bringing moisture down to us! I will keep watching things and I will have a full update! Coming your way a little later on tonight! One more quick thing! We in Lafayette already have a wind chill of -7* degrees so if you have to go out be sure to have the Hat coats and gloves! The cold is already starting!!!!!
Stay safe and warm tonight!

Hey there I have the latest!
Looking at some of the maps earlier we was talking about dry air over our area! Well it looks as though it is starting to push off the the east and some moisture is trying to make is way into our area from up in Minnesota, and South Dakota, so I do see us getting SNOW! However We will have to take this hour by hour tonight and keep you all posted! Now I have this system starting sometime around 5:am Wednesday morning! So be careful as you head out to work or school! Currently for Lafayette I still like the 1" to 3" inch range! However this means we could see snowfall around one inch to an inch and a half! Snowfall gets a little higher up around Newton and Jasper counties! Where I like the 2" to 4" inch range! Which means they could see snowfall around 2" inches.
Wind chills are going to be a BIG PROBLEM for the next few days! As they will be well below zero! We are talking around -11* degrees for the day time tomorrow and -22* degrees for the night time. And by Thursday even colder! As highs will feel like -11* degrees with wind chills and take a look at this low! -30* degrees with wind chill at night!!!!! You should stay home if you can! I know all can't stay home so if you do have to go out take a Blanket in your can and have a winter survival kit! We have been talking about this wild winter cold for the past week now and here it comes! We are talking about Frost Bite weather! In Less the Ten minutes!!!!! Keep warm and keep all parts of yourself covered when you do go out! We are already seeing our temperatures fall! We are at 12.9* degrees and Falling!!!!!
I will keep you all posted through the evening! Keep it here and stay warm!!!!!
One thing that would have warmed you up was the Beautiful sunset we seen this evening! I hope you all got a chance to see it!
Wednesday's weather!
For tonight we can expect to see a few off and on light snow flurries. lows in the single digits. With winds between 10 and 15 mph!
Wednesday starting around 5:am or 6:am in the morning we can see the Alberta clipper start to move in! Highs in the LOW teens and lows in the Single digits!!!!! New expected snowfall for Lafayette between 1" and 3"inches. This means we could see snowfall amounts an inch to a inch and a half! New snowfall for Newton and Jasper counties are between 2" and 4" inches. Which means they can see snowfall around 2" inches. A good thing to say about Wednesday is the winds are not expected to be as high as what we where looking for yesterday!! They are now looking to be between 10 and 15 mph with possible gusts to 20 maybe 25 mph. However if this snow is a light fluffy snow then it wont take much at all to blow it around!. One more thing! we do have a little bit of dry air in our area! However it is not much! Still we will have to watc it closely as we head into Wednesday for you all know it can effect our snowfall amounts! So we will watch it closely! And I will have another snowfall amount coming your way later on this evening! You can see below the Dry air I'M currently watching!
So always be careful! And don't forget about the COLD wind chills that will be below zero until closer to the weekend!!!Also still be careful on some roads here is a few reports from the Lafayette Brookston area and areas around.
