Dangerous Roads!

Here is just one of many hazardous road reports in the WLFI viewing area. Driving conditions are hazardous. Details Below...

Between N County Road 500 E and S 920 W (2 to 6 miles west of Russiaville). Hazardous driving conditions. Look out for snow on the roadway. Be prepared for heavy snow. Expect strong winds. Until tomorrow at about 6:07PM EST.

You can see some of the heavier snow in the WLFI viewing area on my Local Radar above. This image was taken at 7:20pm EST. We still have snow behind these heavier bands. However it doesn't show up on this radar. Take a look at the national radar below.

Current Wind Reports..........

Lafayette, Is seeing steady winds at 15 mph, Gusting to 35 Mph.

Remington, had a peak gusts today so far to 31 Mph, Current winds to 23 Mph.

Kokomo, Had a peak gust today of 33 Mph, Currently seeing winds to 21 Mph.

And up far north in South Bend, They had a peak Gust so far of 37 Mph.

You know me bloggers! I had to get out in this snow and take Pictures or video!! I LOVE THIS WEATHER! I took some video by a street light to try and show everyone who is at home just how much this snow is blowing in the wind! It is amazing! You can't look up at the night sky without seeing snow blowing so much that it looks like smoke! Take a look.

This is why I say visibility is going to get lower and lower as the night goes on! Again if you can stay home please do!!! I'll check back if needed.

Finally It's Snowing!! ((Please Be Safe!))

Snow and wind really starting to pick up! Really starting to look like whiteout conditions in Lafayette. Please be safe tonight everyone! When you walk out the wind feels like it takes your breath away!

The snow is finally starting to kick in here in Lafayette! Coming down pretty good with looking like some white out conditions at times. Winds are starting to pick up as well. Lots of blowing and drifting snow will be a issue tonight into Monday. Still 1" to 3" Inches is most likely. The heaviest of snow has stayed to our south in the Indianapolis, and southeast areas. Wind chills are in the low teens at this time. They will continue to fall as the night goes and the winds increase!Just look at that radar image above. You can see the snow from the north starting to push into the Lafayette, area. (Image taken at 5:25pm EST).

Please take you time if you have to go out! We can expect to see lots of Ice on the roads along with many many slick spots as most roads will become snow covered tonight into tomorrow! With winds blowing to 35 + Mph I wouldn't be surprised to see reports of some white out like conditions. believe it or not I have already had some reports of this in the Lafayette, area! Visibility will only get worse as we head into the over night hours! With the snow and wind, along with the loss of daylight! Things will become dangerous! Please if you don't have to go out then stay home! That's probably the best thing you can do.

Big Changes In The Forecast...

Well, I said that it would either look good or I would look like a fool! Well, your looking at the total weather fool! Take a look at that radar image above taken at 2:05pm EST. We have pulled in much more dry air then I expected which has caused this snow to break up as it moved into the WLFI viewing area. It doesn't start to really come back together until it is passed the WLFI viewing area and into Indianapolis. Which means snowfall amounts are going to be much lower then the 3" to 5" range.

Just look at all this dry air in this Satellite vapor map below.This image was taken at 2:14pm EST. This dry air is what has forced me to lower amounts. Right now I'm looking at most of the WLFI viewing area if now all of the viewing area to be in the 1" to maybe 3" Inch range.

One part of the forecast that I didn't mess up is still the winds and wind chills. Starting later this evening into tonight through Monday we will see winds pick up to 35 + mph possible. With lows tonight of 9* degrees we will see wind chills around -20* degrees below. Between Monday and Monday night we will look for wind Chills anywhere between -15 to -20 below.

The Metrodome Roof Has Collapsed!!

The snow is just starting to get underway here in Lafayette! However the Annihilator, is living up to it's name for sure!!! The Metrodome, home to the Minneapolis Vikings, is known for being able to handle massive amounts of snow. However, this weekend's blizzard in the Midwest may actually be too much even for the Metrodome! The roof of the Metrodome has collapsed due to heavy snow and winds!!

I have a video from Fox Sports that is just unbelievable!!! Take a look at this!

The game will be played tomorrow at 7:00pm EST in MI. This has been a major storm! However this is not the first time the roof has caved in! It did this before in 1982, 1983, 1984, and the roof had tares in it in 1986 I believe! Just crazy!!
