Well, there you have it. It's not looking like a bad day! We (may) see some light scattered showers possible today but otherwise I think we will stay mostly cloudy and mostly dry today with highs in the low 80s. I still will not rule out a few peaks of sun possible like we seen yesterday as well. We will also look for this cold front to push through our area later on this evening which will cool us off just a bit. Not much we will drop from the low to middle 80s down to the upper 70s. Our average high temperature for this time of year is around 80* degrees with our record high around 90* degrees! No, we have not hit the 90s yet this year but it won't be to long before we do! We will talk more about our temperature forecast coming up later on tonight! For now I thought you all would enjoy this weather poem I found today. I have it posted for you below.
Thunder and Lightning
When a storm begins in the clouds, It sometimes may look frightening. You see a quick electrical spark-- Flash! goes the lightning!
Long and thin and streaky and fast, Its glow is oh so brightening. Watch for the electric spark-- Flash! goes the lightning!
When a storm begins in the clouds, It truly is a wonder. You hear a rumble loud in the sky-- Clap! goes the thunder!
Lightning bolts are heating the air, Over clouds and under. When the air expands enough-- Clap! goes the thunder!
---------------------------------------------
This poem has a little learning along with it! One thing that I always wondered before I really got into forecasting weather was What makes the sound of thunder? And this poem really says it all..... Lightning is around 54,000 degrees *F which is around six times hotter then the surface of the sun. When lightning strikes the ground it heats the air around it expanding it. Once the lightning finishes going through the air what we hear as thunder is the air collapsing back together making that big CRASH or BOOM we all know so well!
And now it is time for the Weather quote of the day!!!!! And how TRUE this one is!! Have a wonderful day bloggers. I'M off to bed. I have been burning the midnight oil and I'M now starting to run low after being up for 36 hours straight! What day is this???? lol Have a wonderful day!
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces up, snow is exhilarating; there is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. John Ruskin
