Hurricane Sandy Hitting Hard On The Coast. Today's Peak Gusts Of 38 Mph In The Lafayette, IN Area Only To Get Stronger.

A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT TUESDAY.

* WINDS: SUSTAINED NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH
  GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH.

* IMPACTS: DRIVING MAY BE DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE
  VEHICLES. LAWN FURNITURE AND OUTDOOR DECORATIONS MAY BE BLOWN
  AWAY IF NOT SECURED.

THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH

We have already had winds gusting this afternoon near 40 mph in the Lafayette, area. Take a look at today's peak wind gusts.
This is just the start of what we will feel from Hurricane Sandy over the next few days. Tomorrow winds will only get higher as we could see gusts anywhere from 40 to 50 mph across the state!
 
Still what we're going to see from this storm is nothing compared to what the east coast is going to encounter. Heavy rainfall has begun along with the wet heavy snow, high damaging winds, and strong Storm surge. Here's a look at the current radar below.
You can see where that cold air is wrapped up in this storm. 12+ inches of snow is very likely in these areas! anywhere between one and two feet of wet heavy snow is possible.

You can see in that red shaded area a 70% chance of at least 12" inches of snowfall is likely!
