System update. Severe storms out west. Rain and wind at home.

Rain started around 8pm here in the Lafayette area. Nothing too heavy. Light to moderate rain at times with winds slowly but surly picking up. Good news is the severe weather is doing as expected and staying well off to our west. Take a look at the number of storm reports from the IL and surrounding areas below.
Lots of high wind reports across the area, a few tornado reports along with some large hail. Hopefully everyone is doing alright in these areas. Some of the winds reports in those areas were reaching speeds as high as 70 mph and 80 mph taking out large trees and small buildings!

The rain will continue off and on tonight for us along with the high gusting winds. Currently in Lafayette we are seeing winds out of the SSE at 20 mph with gusts of 30 mph.

Take a look at this surface chart as we head into the overnight. This is looking at around 1:am EST.
Rain still spreading across the area as that cold front approaches.
The first front will pass through during the overnight while the second front will pass through the area later on Thursday afternoon.

This next chart is looking into Thursday around 1:pm EST.
Once that front pushes all the way through the area we will see much cooler temperatures along with breezy conditions. Highs tomorrow reaching into the low 50s with lows in the 30s. Highs on Friday only making it into the low to middle 40s!
