Red Sky Last Night Was For Sure A Delight!!

Well, this was just some of how things looked last night! We seen a mess of showers and even a few thunderstorms out to our south and west in parts of IL, that slowly made there way into the Indiana area. The storms did not effect our viewing area however as you can see areas of Terre Haute, Bloomington, and even parts of Indianapolis, seen some scattered thunderstorms out and about. There was a few hail reports with these storms with the biggest hail reported being around one inch. We was not to worried about these storms here in the WLFI viewing area. This was because as these cells moved into Indiana they was starting to weaken as we lost the daytime heat and we had more stable air. IL, was looking at Lifted Index of around -2 to -3 and Indiana was looking at (LI) of only -1 to +2. We still may however see some left over scattered rain showers in the morning as this front will still be making its way through our area. We are not looking for much but still a slight chance for some left over rain and thunder scattered possible. Otherwise we will look fomr some more mostly to partly cloudy skies much like Yesterday.

Now here is another thing I wanted to show you all. This is last nights sunset! The sky just turned a hot pink last night as the sun was setting. I have only seen the sky this pink one other time in my life and that was just last year. This had to be one of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen in some time. It not only turned the sky pink but the ground and everything around it! Here is another picture I took of the car to try and show how everything was pink. You can see the car in the picture is blue however nature is doing a good job to change that color lol. It was just a wonderful glow! I had a few people ask me if we was expecting to see some severe thunderstorms last night as they thought this pink sky might have been some kind of warning sign or something! I had to calm them down by letting them know that is was to do with dust, sun angle, and ice crystals in the air and clouds. The way the sun was setting and the angle it hit the ice crystals in the clouds is what made this pink color. An easy way to think of this is to think of a prism. When you hold it up to the light at different angles you get many different colors. So as the sun set the pink sky quickly went away..... Another saying that most of you have heard is "Red sky at night sailor delight, Red sky in the morning sailor take warning" And last night's sky was for sure a delight! ;)

I will check back here real soon. We will take a look at our month outlook for expected precipitation! Will we be above average?? Will we be below average?? Or will we be equal?? Find out later on tonight! ;) See you then.....

Thanks for reading!
