A nice looking weekend with a slight warm up for the Superbowl before we get another cool down!

It's the weekend! YA!!!!! lol We look to be starting the weekend out right this time as we will be Mostly sunny to Partly cloudy with Mild temperatures right around 29* degrees. We are also looking for a warm front to push through later today into tonight! Which will warm us up a bit for Superbowl Sunday! Take a look at this map I have put together for you below!

We will see a few more winds today between 10 and 15 mph as well with a few gusts to 25 mph at times! But I'M sure we will still enjoy a good Saturday as it is the weekend and who don't like that?! This is really the slight warm up before the big cool down! I know I know I'M not making you all feel better with this talk about another cool down but I'M just the messenger! lol. There is a big cold front expected to move through late night Sunday into Monday and we will feel it as highs will then be in the teens again!

Now the Superbowl is Tomorrow and I have seen a lot of people talking about who will win and I have to say most are liking Arizona for the win! And being here in Indiana and a MAJOR Colts fan! I would like to see James, get a ring. However I think the Pittsburgh will pull it off but I'M not good at picking the win if it's not the Colts! ;) really it does not matter who wins I think it will be a GREAT game! Now here is your Superbowl Forecast below.

For the morning of Sunday you can see that slight chance for some drizzle which has the chance to fall as freezing drizzle. However it is looking like less then a Tenth inch! Still even that can make problems on roads. So I will keep you posted on that! Then we should start to clear out a bit and become Partly cloudy by later in the afternoon to evening. Highs in the low to mid 30s is looking Pretty nice! Everybody got there Superbowl party's ready??? lol.

Now I was talking yesterday about another big system that was taking shape down around LA. Well from the latest maps and models it looks like it will track more to the east coast rather then the west! This will keep the most part of it around the Ohio and Pennsylvania areas. However I will not rule out a few snow flurries to showers for us although it will not be much! But this time it is looking like we will miss out! But High winds and heavy snowfall will be the key on the east coasts. No matter what it is going to be a big system and worth watching! This low pressure is a strong one! And it is bringing back a lot of stories about the great blizzard of 78 that the Indiana area had!

Now here is your pictures of the day below! Be sure to send in your pictures and Pets are always good pictures to have! I know my aunt has some funny dogs! And they always take great ones.

Send your pictures to storm18mini@aol.com to see them posted on the Indiana Weather Blog. Thank you for reading I will be back with another look at your Superbowl forecast. for now have a great weekend..........

A big system will be tracking to the east coast And maybe some light ice on Superbowl Sunday!

Hey there we see Pickles above sleeping after another big day of snow fun! I have made a 4FT ramp out back and she loves to run up it and slide all the way down we can call it sledding doggie style! lol. Well we had a nice day yesterday until the winds started in and had that snow blowing all over making driving hard and dangerous. There where a lot of people around the area reporting gusty winds causing problems on roads.

Today we will still have to watch for some more winds as they look to be between 15 and 20 mph some could gusts to near 25 mph at times. So take your time if you need to go out and be safe.

One thing we should talk about is this weekend! Which is when we are watching for a slight chance for some possible freezing drizzle on Superbowl Sunday. Good news is it does not look like much and (IF) we see anything it will be really light still models show liquid around .10 which can make the roads slick and cause problems!!! Some models show more of a light rain rather then Ice but we cannot rule this freezing drizzle out by any means. Also there is a BIG system taking form for later on Monday into Tuesday for much of the east coast! This is a BIG BIG system and will give way to heavy snowfalls and ice in areas along with High Gusty winds. With the way the low looks to be tracking the east coast looks to be the main zone for things this time around! Here in Lafayette maybe a few light snow showers are possible.

Today we can look for a few light snow flurries not much at all just a few flurries and temperatures as highs will be around the low teens. Lows in the single digits. So bundle up is the the word of the day ;) Also I'M going to start a new thing called the Picture of the day! We will start with the one below! And keep posting as we go along!

Also Superbowl Sunday is just around the corner and I'M looking so forward to it! I have had someone ask me "If we get this freezing rain on Superbowl Sunday how will you do both?" (I will find a way!) lol..... Again I want to thank you all for voting on the Superbowl poll and now I have a new poll going! To see how you all feel about More Winter or an Early Spring? It will be fun to see how you vote! For now I will again head off to bed and get some sleep! Thank you for reading and feel free to post you comments below! Any weather pictures like Sunsets, Nature pictures, Snow, Thunderstorms, Anything Weather or Nature will be fine! Just send them to me at storm18mini@aol.com and I will love to post them! Maybe one of yours could be the "Picture of the day!" :-) Have a good one dress warm and be safe on the roads!

Our Superbowl storm has moved on now we get ready for another wild weather pattern to take place!

What a day!!!!! That is a good way to start this Blog post! What a day!

We had a lot of people in Tippecanoe County alone have a number of amounts! Not all the same. Some reported seeing 6.25" inches some reported seeing around 7.0" inches 5.1" inches and I have 5.0" inches. This was really a wild Superbowl system! Not to worry I have a lot of snowfall reports posted below so check it out for yourself!
You see how much the amounts change from just a few short miles! And we see Tipton coming in with by far the biggest number! NINE INCHES! WOW! That is a lot oh snow! lol.......... This was great for all snow lovers for they not only finally got there much wanted snowfall but got a chance to get out and enjoy it! If you had to shovel it was a killer! You need to take breaks and take you time that was for sure! Even with it being a fluffy snow it was heavy! I know this for I and my sister was out for a few good hours shoveling out some of our neighbors. And it took some time! But we helped others and had fun doing so! :D And we was not the only ones having fun for believe it or not the dogs where all having a great time as well as we see below Pickles Willie and my boy Dobby loved it! Well I can't say that for Willie is not a fan at all ;) But he did get out once or twice!!!!!
Road crews where out and doing there jobs and we can tell from the latest road reports as of 12:am this morning. Take a look.

One thing that I do want people to remember is the roads that have snow or melted snow or wet for that matter will freeze up and cause Black ice on roads which is really hard to see as you know! This is what I want people to know and be aware of! Again here is the link to check out the latest road reports as we go through the day!

ISP: Road Conditions Just click and go.

We can also see from the pictures my aunt sent in that we all had a lot of car cleaning to do! With some ice under the snow on windows but nothing to bad! She did not have a good measured amount but by looks she called for it around the 6.0" to 6.5" range for up around Monroe, and by looking at these pictures I would say that is a pretty good guess.

With all this fresh snow I also think we will need to be watching for blowing and drifting snow this morning and the rest of the day! As winds will be between 15 and 20 mph with gusts to near 25 and 28 mph at times. So when driving please take your time for the icy spots and the blowing snow! Just allow yourself extra time and you will be fine!
Now for today and the rest of the week!
Today we could very well see another band of snow flurries to a few snow showers move in by this afternoon as a small Alberta clipper will fall into our area. This is expected to go off and on through Friday. I'M currently looking for snowfall between One inch and an inch and a half. This is another reason why we will take it slow out there. Saturday is still looking like our small break before we start to get into another wild pattern and this is why. Sunday we will see another system peak our way where we are currently looking for a possible mix of rain and snow! However for now I will say mostly snow but a chance for mixed precipitation is still likely and cannot be ruled out. We will keep watching this as it gets closer and time it all out for you then! It is still around four day away and in Indiana a lot can change in that time!
And for later on next week I have been watching the long range models and maps and there is looking like more moisture to work with from the gulf and this could be another snow system! However this is still a number of days out so I'M not going to call anything for sure at this point and time. A lot can change! However I will keep you all posted on this chance of another possible system as we get closer.
I have to say I'M running on empty sleep wise so I need to get some sleep!
Thank you for the pictures and thanks to all who shared there snowfall amounts and thanks for reading! Have a great day
I'll catch up with you all later..........Oh before I forget! Thank you all for voting on my poll for the Superbowl! It looks like the most of you like the steelers for the win but we wont count anyone out! It is coming up and we will soon find out!

Superbowl storm is coming to an end

Well I now have our 4" inches well 4.80" in the nose and still snowing lightly! I still like our closer to 6" inches we have been calling for and I think we will be pretty close! I have a lot to get done I have to get all my reports in even to the CoCoRaHS network and then start to shovel out everyone! Most areas are up to five inches six and even more up around Tipton county and south of Montgomery! This has been a wild system and fun to track. The snow is just about done here in the greater Lafayette area so looks like we are close to our final amount! Still I will talk more about what we have seen and post some final amounts and pictures on here later on this evening to tonight! For NOW HAVE FUN IT THAT SNOW!!!!!

Send it your pictures to storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them! Got to go Have a good snowy filled day.

Here is a few road reports below! I have pictures again and final snow amounts to post on here later on tonight! I will talk to you all then!

One more thing is We where calling for 5" to 8" range in the middle around 5 to 6 1/2" inches. and Here in tippecanoe we are at the 5 mark with people still reporting areas with 6" or more! Not to bad for this wild tracking system :D HA HA.....;)

The Superbowl system is not over yet!

Hey there I have another update for you all!

I have been looking through the latest model runs and watching the radars closely! And currently the models still show between .25 and .50" inches of liquid with this system for the Lafayette areas. If this is true then I could see Lafayette with another possible 2" to 4" inches added on to what we already have! Which is 3.2" inches. This would bring our total to six to six and a half inches. With a chance for a possible 7" inches. Now yes I'M still calling for the 5" to 8" range which I would like to let you all know this means no less then 5" inches and no more then 8" inches but I like right in the middle of the range! Which would be the 5" to 6 1/2" inches. Here is a quick map below for expected snowfall amounts when all is said and done. I'M currently now looking for it to be over until sometime between 10:am and 2: pm today. Now one thing we will really have to watch rather we see a lot of snow or a little is going to be the winds. I'M looking for winds today between 10 and 15mph. No that is not a lot but with this being a light fluffy snow even a light wind will blow it all over the place. And I have already had reports of this in Remington. So roads will be dangerous as you head out in the morning! Please take it slow and be careful! If you allow yourself extra time then you should be fine! One thing is for sure this Superbowl system as we like to call it is no joke! It is a big and tricky system!

No matter what I know I still have a lot of shoveling to do for my neighbors with the help of my sister. We do this with any big snow and we know it helps them a lot! Then maybe if I have not crashed from lack of sleep lol :-) then I may be able to have some fun in the snow with my doggie Dobby,! He love him some snow! :-) I really cannot believe I'M still up at three in the morning for I'M running off of two hours of sleep.

So Have a good night or good morning! Which ever and I will check back later on this morning once again! See you then have a good day and I will check back soon..........

Here is a few road reports as of 3: 16am below just to give you an idea.

The amounts keep coming in!

Here is more current amounts and and they just keep rolling in! Tippecanoe has not been put into a winter storm warning just yet but we are still in a winter storm advisory. I will keep checking in with you all through out the night and keep watching all the maps and the big guy DOPPLER RADAR! We are still looking for the Low pressure to track to the Ohio valley which it is pushing all the moisture to us and giving way to heave bands! We need to really get the word out that driving will be dangerous as the latest models show us with snow showers till 2:pm or 3:pm Wednesday..... I will keep posting road reports as they come in and we will all just allow our self's more time to get where ever we may be going and take it slow!
I will be checking back.......... One more thing we need not to forget about! It is the winds! We have already seen gusts to 15 mph in parts of Remington and reports of blowing and drifting snow! Again roads will be dangerous! Also for parts in Remington Visibility is only 2.00MI,

A strong system this is!

I have my new current snowfall amount at 2.25" inches. We are still seeing a mod snow and we can really pick out the heaver bands still working there way to us! Another thing to remember is looking at the radars we can see in MO, and IL, there is another band forming and swinging over to this system! I'M keeping a close watch on anymore watches or warnings to be posted..........

The system is knocking on our doors and we should start to see the Bigger snow bands here around 11:pm or Midnight! The NWS has now moved the winter storm warnings more north all the way up to Montgomery County! We will keep watching for Tippecanoe to be added and I will pop back in in a few! 5" to 8" if VERY VERY LIKELY!!!!!!!!! WE WILL see Our amounts!

Here is a link for the warnings in Indiana. I'M currently up to 1.9 inches of snow just about to break that two inch mark! We are still watching the heavy heavy bands move in!

NWS Indianapolis, IN
I'll be back!

I feel like this Superbowl storm is really the Superbowl!

Just checking in with the latest here if a few local current snowfall amounts below.

And this is not at all it we are still watching more heavy bands forming to our south and west which is moving our way here before long. We are currently thinking closer to 10:pm or 11:pm. This heavy bands will lessen visibility and make driving hard if you can stay home that would be best! We are also seeing a lot of blowing and drifting snow not only here in Lafayette but more in Remington. Or Jasper county. Even though our winds are between 5 and 10 mph with gusts to 15 mph we have a fluffy light snow and it is just blowing it all over. Please take you time and be careful if needed to go out.

Below is the rest of my forecasted amounts for tonight into tomorrow morning and afternoon. I'M currently looking for this snow to start to tapper off between 10: am and 1:pm Wednesday! We will time that out also as we get closer! We will see our winds get a little stronger tomorrow as well and we will keep you posted. Again I still like our 5" to 8" for Lafayette and areas around and here is you map below.......... I will see you again soon..........

I will also keep a close watch on our low pressure as it looks to be tracking to the Ohio valley and pushing the moisture to us! This is why we will keep our amounts and keep watching for our heavy bands to push through real soon..........

The Superbowl storm is still letting the snow fly!!

Here we are with the latest as of 3:50pm.

We are currently up to .75" of snow and still counting. I have been looking at the latest again and though there is a chance for Nine inches I really think that our 5" to 8" will get the job done. That is a lot of snow and I think snow lovers will be happy.
Please remember this range is no less then 5 no more then 8 inches. I only say this because I remember hearing Meteorologist call for 3" to 6" and I always used to think WOW Six inches ;) Now I know! lol..........

I will have a liquid ratio coming your way here in a little while and we will keep watching this system closely and all eyes are on Doppler radar.

They are calling this storm the Superbowl storm for it is hitting us on the week of the Superbowl! I love that name!!!!! It has my vote! lol.....

We can expect to see this system start to tapper off between 10:am and 1:pm Wednesday tomorrow! Again 5" to 8" is our goal and I think we will be right between it! Which is good! Also I know a lot are worried about the winds! Well I see for today winds between 5 and 10 mph and tomorrow between 10 and 15 mph. That is not a high wind but with this being a light fluffy snow it can still blow it around. So if you do go out and around please watch the roads. I will keep in touch and keep you posted.

Send your snowy pictures to me at storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them.......... I will check back soon.

Another update coming your way soon!

OK the latest!

I will now put us in 5" to 8" inches. I have looked over the maps and I really see us in this system for a while. I also see a chance for Nine inches! I will not rule that out yet! We may go for that! We will keep watching this and keep you posted. Now you know there is that chance and we can still add. As of now after an hour of snow I have a Half inch on the nose! This is looking good! I Will be back at 3: 45pm with another update!

Snow lovers say keep it coming! ;-)

3" to 7" and a good chance for more!!!!!

OK for now the models have moved the system up north again and I like that for our snowfall amounts. I feel we can move them up to the 3" to 7" range and give me another hour or so and I may move us to the 4" to 8" range. I will be checking back real soon with the latest. It is looking like it is taking good shape and like we are staying in this train of snow! Snow lovers this is our biggest system this winter and it looks like we all will be able to enjoy it! Please send me your snow pictures to storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them.

So far I have a good feeling we will be able to add to our current 3" to 7" range.

I will check back real soon..........

Bring on the snow

We are babysitting the Doppler radar as you see above the snow has started to fly and we are watching it with great care. The sow is falling and this is the start of things to come! I still currently like the 3" to 6" inches however with the way things are looking right now we may have to add to this by later on this afternoon to evening! We will keep watching it and keep you posted. I really hope you all got all your stuff done before this hit. I do see it getting a little worse by 4: pm. We are seeing the models show liquid of .37 and .50 which says 3" to 6" looks good. Now as we know the system just needs to stay on this northern track and we my have to up it to 3 to 8 inch range time will tell.........
Watch the roads and be safe! I will check back soon..........

The moisture is still tracking north!!

Well this has been a wild night!

I really do like the looks of this system and how we are setting up! This is a system with a lot of moisture as you see below!
Usually when we get systems that form off the Gulf moisture we see our bigger snows! Some parts of Indiana already see over 2" inches down closer to Bloomington, And this was closer to 11:00 pm. I have been sitting on the latest maps and models as they come in and again they have been moving north little by little and so far I like the way this has went! I have been E-Mailing Mike Prangley tonight and we both was watching possible ice for just on the southern edge of Montgomery County, From the latest model runs as of 2:00am I still think the Ice will stay just south of Montgomery County and I think places closer to Fountain county will see more of a sleet and snow mix rather then Ice. Still we will keep watching it closely!!!!! I will keep 3" to 6" as our range and if we keep on this northern track then we may have to add to this! We will keep you posted on that as well. We will also keep watching our Jet stream for that can shift more north as well which will help us with our snowfall. For now I will think about taking a cat nap or something. I have a hard time sleeping on a night like this. I'M pumped up I got the Music playing and having a ball..... This is what I love to do! ;)

I will keep you posted today so have a good nights rest and get everything done today in the morning and early afternoon before the bigger snow hits. We can expect it by later afternoon into the evening. And will start to tapper off by Wednesday afternoon.

We are also watching a small clipper system for Thursday into Friday which currently looks to bring us around an inch and a half but we will talk more about that after our fun with this one! :-)

If you have to work late please take it slow on your way home if caught in the snow and drive safe! Be safe and lets all just enjoy what mother nature has to give us!

See you later on today..........

I'M pumped up and working on another Quick Cast.....

WOW I'M pumped and ready to go! I'M getting ready to start another Quick cast coming your way here in just a few!

I will try to post some maps as well and be ready for the snow!

Real quick things are looking good and I will talk all about it coming up!

I will be back..........

Another update

This is an image of our moisture. You see I have outlined it. This moisture is really building up. If we look at the radars we can see the system is really packing the moisture and this is good for snow. I do feel for those south of Indy that may have to deal with more freezing rain rather then snow. We around the WLFI viewing area should have to deal with all snow! I know I will take that over snow any day. Anyway this moisture is good news for Snow lovers! There for a while today I thought dry air would stop this system but as seen above that looks to be starting to close off. This system is still moving to north and looking good for our snowfall. I like everything so far. Still like the 3" to 6" inch range however we may still have to add to this! We will keep watching it closely. And keep you posted. We can always add on as it get closer.

Here is a radar image of this huge storm!

I will keep checking in!

Keep the shovels out and ready

OK here is the latest.

It is all going to come down to this.....Will it go more north or will it stay south?.....Well currently I still think it will stay on this northern track and keep us in the 3" to 6" inch range and if it keeps tracking north then we will add to these amounts. So This can very well be the biggest system to hit us this winter.! I like the looks of it and I have stuck with 3" to 6" and will keep 3" to 6" with a chance for more. I will keep watching this very closely and keep all posted. We need to take it hour by hour and see how things play out. So for up to this point I think it has gone pretty close to how we have forecasted it to. But it is not over till it is over. This has been a system where the models are not doing a great job. But as long as we remember systems like this one do tend to move to the north then we are ok.....Had I not have known this it would have been a lot harder.....

Now this is expected to really take off and start by sometime late morning Tuesday to the early afternoon. And keep going off and on through Wednesday. The good thing is winds should not be a big factor this time. Winds are expected to be between 10 and 15 mph for Tuesday and between 5 and 10 mph for Wednesday.

We also have another chance for snow showers on Thursday into Friday. However it looks to be more of a clipper system and only around an inch to an inch and a half. But we can talk about that system a little later. Lets get through tonight and tomorrow first..... This is going to be a long night but I love tracking I love snow and I want to keep you posted. One more thing we do have some winter weather advisories out for our area. So here is a link posted below so you can keep up with the latest as they come out. Just click.....

NOAA's National Weather Service

I will check back as needed. Be sure to send you snowy pictures in to me at storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them.....

We have the moisture and we are looking good

I'M still liking the looks of this system.

Now Here is why. We are expecting to see a few snow flurries today. And the models last night showed the snow right through the Tippecanoe county area. Well if you pull up just about any weather radar you will see the most of the snow has stayed to our north. This is good in a way. Why?? Well Like I said the models showed it through the Tippecanoe area and it went about 50 to 100 miles north then the models showed.

Now if we pull up the radar we will see the moisture is starting to take shape down in Oklahoma, and Arkansas, and is currently moving north north east. This is a good sign for snow lovers. This makes me think it will keep moving more north then what the models show and I really do like our snowy chances. I will keep it at the 3" to 6" inch range and if we need to then we can always add on later.

I will keep watching the system and I will keep you updated. I know this is going to be a long night for me! ;) have a good one..........

Lets start the show and bring on the snow!

OK here is your update..........

I have checked out the latest model runs and I really do still like the 3" to 6" inch range! The main thing we need to watch is the way this system tracks. As in.....It only has to go around 100 miles more north and we will see our snowfall amounts go up! This is all it takes! and we have seen this happen time and time again. Still for now 3" to 6" sounds good and as it gets closer and if needed we can always add to our amounts.

We will see this system start in by later on tonight. And it will really take off by Tuesday morning and will go off and on through the day and will then start to tapper off by Wednesday morning to afternoon. This has been a wild system to track. And a lot of forecasters are having trouble. I have stuck by my forecast and will keep with it! I have not felt the need to change. I have be told in the past by Mike prangley that it is sometimes better to go with your gut rather then a model and sometimes you will be closer on a forecast! well My gut says this system will be between the 3" and 6" inch range and it has be moving north more and more so I like my forecast and will stick by it!

The best way I can put it is 3" to 6" inches is looking likely and if the system moves more north then we can expect more. Still for now my forecast is for 3" to 6" inch range and again we can add on as needed. But at least we can be ready for anything. This is a good thing! You can bet I will be back later on today with another update coming your way! This way we all can stay on top of things!

For now I have got to get some sleep here in a few! I feel I will have a busy day today! See you later! enjoy your winter wonderland.

Send your weather pictures to storm18mini@aol.com to see them posted on the The Indiana Weather Blog..........:)

Update for our wild system to come

Here is a quick snowy update!

I have been looking through the models and going through the possible amounts for Tuesday into Wednesday and I still like my total range between 3" and 6" inches. I have been calling for the 3" to 6" inch range for the past two days and I still feel it holds. I know a lot of other stations and sites are calling for less while others are pretty close to mine I still like this range. One thing we have to keep in mind is every system that have formed off the golf of Mexico moisture this winter has come more north then the models have shown. However they did not fall as snow for our temperatures where to warm. This time we are ready for it to move north and our temperatures will stay below that freezing mark.! Which means anything that falls will fall as snow..... Which is great news.

Also we need to remember that if this system does move another 100 miles north then we will see our amounts go up! It is still a day and a half away so we will keep a close watch on it! Still for now I will stick with my 3" to 6" inch range and we can always add on later if needed. Either way I do see the kids playing in a good amount!

This is all expected to start Monday night and really take off by Tuesday. And start to tapper off by Wednesday. I will have more on this system coming later on tonight! See you then..........

Wakeing up to the start of whats to come

WOW what a wake up call this morning! We walked out to a winter wonderland. No the models where not showing us this last night. However one did show us right around that inch mark which is what I currently have as seen below. And this is a good reason why I will keep my 3" to 6" inches for Tuesday with the chance for more! While most models still show the moisture to our south I really think we will start to see it move north before long. I still like this next bigger snow system to start late late Monday night to Tuesday into Wednesday. When it gets closer and I fell I can add to our amounts then I will do so. Remember to send in your snowy pictures to me at storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them.....As well as your snowfall totals you can post in comments below.....Here is a few quick pictures of our Inch of snow.
We Will see the snow flurries through out the day with a chance to see maybe another half inch or so. Otherwise we will still keep the bigger snow for later..... Get the shovels out and this is the start of whats to come. I think for once the kids will have something to really play in! And you adults! ;) I will have to get out my snowboard later and see what I can do..... Have a good one and I will have another snowy update coming your way real soon..........

Our forecast looks to be holding! A Bigger snow is looking likely

Ok for the system we talked about earlier Yesterday! About how they like to move 100 to 150 miles more north and west then the models show! Well so far things are going as planed up to this point! Looking at the latest the model runs they are already showing it moved up more north then they where last night as planed... And this is making me like our chances even more for a good snow! Also it is looking like we will stay cold enough. Currently I like the 3" to 6" inch range however there is a good chance for more I will keep you posted on that... We can expect all this by Tuesday into Wednesday. We will as always watch it closely and keep you all posted! But as of now! I would keep the snow shovels ready!

Also I was looking up a few things and past storms and it is the anniversary of the great blizzard of 1978! Which started on the 25th through the 27th of this month. However I don't see us getting another 78 storm this time around. I thought you all who remember the storm would like to know. If you have any stories of the 1978 storm I would love to hear them. You can post your stories below just click on comments.
Here is a quick picture I took this evening! You see we had mostly clear skies with a few High Cirrus clouds. Beautiful it really was..... If you have any kind of weather picture of a Sunset Birds your pets staying warm on a cold day. Or from this snow to come feel free to send them to me at storm18mini@aol.com and I would love to post them!

This could be are first big snow of the season if all goes as planed..... Currently our biggest snowfall this winter is right around four inches! Not much. Snow lovers can keep hope.....And one more thing we may see some cooler temperatures work back in by closer to Friday..........
Check back later and I will have another update coming your way this evening. See you then.......... Thank you for reading..........

I have been up for hours but the forecast is coming together!

Well taking a look at our weekend forecast above it is not looking to bad. Sure a little cold but at least we start it out with some partly cloudy skies and not a rainy mess right? ;) This is going to be the start of our cold plunge. So I hope you did not put away you coats hats and gloves just yet! We can also see the high around 16 for tomorrow. Let me remind you the temperatures above are with out wind chills. I know I'M not making you all feel any batter..... lol..... But I will have some better news here in a minute! Just hang in there. One thing we will need to watch out for this morning as you head out will be some patchy ice in areas.

That's right because of all the melting snow we seen yesterday we now have to watch for that icy mess in places. However most roads should be OK still I feel I should give you the heads up for I have had a few people report that there driveways where like a sheet of ice as well as my back walk is covered with ice. Again looking at some road reports as of now they are mostly Dry! This is a big plus. But sidewalks are slick!

Now I am Pumped up! Why? well I have been working on this wild forecast for hours now and I feel like I have a good idea as to whats coming! This is good because now you have a good idea as to whats coming! ;) lol..... OK here we go..... Like you seen above today and Sunday are the start of our cold outbreak. Which will stick around until closer to Tuesday. Now we have two snow systems to watch one however will be light! Monday is the first sticking snow this week. Where we are currently looking for snowfall here in the Tippecanoe county area to be little around an inch or less. Closer to an inch and a half down south of I70.

The next system is the tricky one. Now here is why amounts are up in the air!

If you pull up just about any model map you will see the big amounts of moisture is to our south! And as most people yesterday was saying how will we see snow if all the moisture is to our south?? Well I have been talking to Mike Prangley tonight and first off I want to give a big thanks to Mike for all he does he really is a great guy! And we both agree that these systems like to move 100 to 150 miles north and west then the models show! This happens time and time again! I have seen this happen before. So if this happens this time then we could very well see a bigger snow! This is what we have to keep track of! This is why amounts are just going to be an idea at this time! Once it gets closer then we all will have a better handle on things and then will be able to give a strong forecasted amount! For now I will say if it does move more north then what the models show! Then we could see the 3-5 range with a possibility of more! But again timing is everything and watching it closely! I will be sure to fine tune things and time it all out as it gets closer.....

Now real quick for the good news I promised you! I do think a early spring! I see warmer temperatures as we get into February..... That is something to help get you through the snow to come and keep you with high hopes!

And thank you for all your votes on the Superbowl poll! And thank you for reading! Feel free to post your comments below. Have a great weekend and don't work to hard..........

Another mild day before we fall temperature wise! Along with a wild weather pattern coming into play soon enough.

Hey there first off I wanted to let you all know I have changed the look of this Blog a little bit and hope you all like it. I just felt we needed a change! Feel free to let me know what you think? Thanks! Now back to weather.

Well we have one more day of mild temperatures before the big COLD DROP!

Today we will see highs again right around the high 30s to low 40s. Yesterday we seen a high here of 46.6* degrees and there where a lot of people reporting that the sun felt GREAT! A lot of people had there moon roofs opened while driving home and said it was nice and made them want Spring even more. Well I got some bad news for them..... This is why the weather man is not liked very much! lol..... We have that big cold falling temperatures after today! But first I would like to show you a picture of some Cirrocummulua clouds or another name is Mackerel sky. Which these clouds are known as an omen of good weather. And Yesterday was a lot of good weather! Take a look below. Now as a weather lover I love to see Mackerel sky! It has got to be one of my favorite clouds to look at other then Contrail clouds. Which as you know are made from the moisture off of Jet engines. They can make some cool images in the sky!

Now real quick I want to give an update on the system to come. Timing is everything! And right now the maps and models are looking for Wednesday into Thursday. And some show it being to warm to snow while others are still iffy. This tells me that this is going to be another system where we wont let our guards down and we will have a much better idea as it gets closer. And we wont make a final call till it is closer. I love snow so I will be looking for it! ;-) So we will talk more about this again as it gets closer and time it out a little later on. One thing we need to remember is these systems like to go 100 to 150 miles north and west then the models show as I was told once and that is true! So that is another thing we will be looking for. I still say if our temperatures stay below that freezing mark then we could very well see snowfall around the 3 to 5 range. But if not then we need to be watching for a change over to a possible mix. This is why we will wait and see as things move it later on. And I will keep you all posted. Still later on next week I do see us getting into a more wild pattern with a lot of moisture to work with so that will be fun for all weather lovers like myself.

For today lets just enjoy another mild day! I know when I was out yesterday it felt just like Spring. And it also helped to get rid of some of my cabin fever. The only down side was all the puddles and mud from all that melted snow. And we can expect to see more of that today. I also know of a lot of people wanting to wash there cars. And I agree after all the salt and snow from the last snow system we had just about all cars need a good wash but with all the puddles! I would rather wait.

Also for tomorrow or we can say Saturday will not only be the start of our colder weather but also we could see a few light snow flakes. However it will not be much at all we will save that for later on next week maybe. But we can't rule out a few light flurries. The weekend is not all bad I do see some Partly cloudy skies for Sunday so that should give you the Hope to get through this add winter. Most people are already counting down to Spring! ;) Hang in there warm weather lovers it will be soon enough..........

I'll check back soon..........

A quick warm up is coming before the big cool down!

Well we have a nice weather pattern moving in for today and tomorrow! If you like the mild temperatures then you will like this forecast! ;-)

Take a look below at one of the nice warm fronts which will help bring our mild temperatures in the High 30 to low 40s.

This map is for late tonight into Friday morning! We will see a warm mass of air work our way! Along with that we can expect to see some clearing skies today! Now for tomorrow it is looking like mostly cloudy skies and there is a slight chance for a few light sprinkles. However that is real slim at this time but we wont rule it out. You should enjoy this quick warm up while you can! Key word........Quick.........This is because we will see another cold plunge of arctic air by this weekend! We are talking highs in the teens again and lows in the single digits. This is only January and we still have a lot of winter to go!

Now here on the Blog we have been talking about a possible bigger snow system for Monday into Tuesday. Now here is the latest!

With this system it has been flopping all over the place. Now by that I mean the models some times don't do a good job with these systems. Some models show us missing the big amounts of snow. While others are back and forth. All I can tell you at this time is there is a chance with this system to give way to a big snow or another dud. I will have a better idea as it gets closer then we will be able to time it out and give amounts! Still as of now models are jumpy. So I will have another update coming a little later on and keep you posted. Right now the main thing with this system is will we stay cold enough for all snow and not a mix or a change over! This is what we need to keep a close watch on and keep tracking! If we do stay cold enough then we could very well see a good snow if we don't then we are talking possible rain or freezing rain! Only time will tell how mother nature wants to go..... We shall see.....
But for today lets just enjoy the warmer temperatures and Partly cloudy skies! Lets see that sun............There we go that is what we are looking for today! lol ;) Have a great one.
Warm weather lovers Enjoy..... Cold and snowy weather lovers hang in there you have another cold week coming! One more thing! This picture above of my Aunts doggie Archie tells us a few things. First off it tells us Archie is bored. Next he wants to get out and play ball. And last it tells us today is a great day to do so! Just be sure to clean off there feet before they come in! With temperatures above freezing today the snow will melt and make a wet mess! Dogs love that! ;) I'll check up with you later..........

High pressure will bring clearing skies and warmer temperatures.

OK fellow Bloggers! I have been checking out a few things on not only our 5-Day forecast but also on that next possible snow system for later on next week.

First off I would like to point out with this next possible snow system is that it is going to be another tricky one to call! And as some of you have pointed out already we have seen duds before with just about every system that has come from the south west this Winter. With those systems we was looking for possible snow and then they changed over to an icy mix with snow on the back side do to our above freezing temperatures! Now with this system there is always that chance it could happen again! However for now we are still looking for snow! If we do stay all snow we could be looking for the 3-5 range maybe more! But like I said before!! This is not for sure yet! It really is to far out to know for sure! I just like to let you all know ahead of time so you know there is that chance for a big snow!

Now I would like to see us get that snow! And it not change! But I don't control the weather! lol! We all just have to see what mother nature wants to do! I can only give an idea as to whats coming! SO Again this system has the potential to give way to a big snow or a dud to rainy mix! The good news is I will have a better and stronger forecast on this as it gets closer! Then we will talk amounts! ;) Sound good?

Now for you Partly cloudy to mostly sunny sky lovers! I have a treat for you in this forecast! Today through Friday we are looking at Partly cloudy skies! And also for today temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s! And Tomorrow temperature in the low to mid 30s! We will call this a slight warm up! Or mini warm front! :) Which ever you like better!!! Winds today between 15 and 25 mph. Not to bad! And who can we thank for our partly cloudy skies????? Well none other then....................
That's right Our fair weather friend High pressure! He will move in and clear our skies! I will have to get out and get some pictures! You can E-mail me your weather pictures at storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them!

Also Fellow snow lovers! We will have to get out and enjoy the snow that is left on the ground while we can! For temperatures today near 30 will soon melt our snow! I know my dogie Dobby! Was out playing in it today and is now all tired out! Which is kinda a good thing for he had a lot of energy to burn! lol!
I'll catch you later on! Be safe and have a good day.....

We may see our first big snow!

Hey Bloggers!
Real quick I wanted to let you all know I have a poll going at the top of this blog to your left! It is ((Who will win Superbowl XLIII)) And you can VOTE! I would love to see how you all vote so have fun!

Well I see another snow system we will watch and keep you posted on! And here is when and how!

We are currently expecting to see another snow system move in closer to Monday into Tuesday. Now with the way this system currently looks to be set up we could see a bigger snow! Now all year so far we have see the Alberta clippers! Which rarely give us big snows! But this time currently we look to have the moisture moving in at just the right time when we could see the cold polar air move in! Now lets put this together! Gulf of Mexico moisture! With the cold polar air! Is looking likely for a big snow! Now Let me remind you this is a week away! Which means it has time to change! And this year we can not be sure until it is Here! So for now I will keep watching it closely and keep you posted on this! As it gets closer!

Otherwise for the next few days we will be below average temperature wise. See for this time of year we should be around 33* degrees for a high! And for today we are looking for high temperatures around the low 20s. Here is a map I have made below!

Here is another map below of the Jet stream for today and then Thursday! Which is when I see the warmer weather move in for a little bit!So cooler but I do still see 30s in the forecast for Thursday. So again we will look forward to that! Also still a slight chance for some few light snow flurries today and for tomorrow mostly cloudy however I will still keep that slight chance to see a few light flurries as well! Again not much with these flurries if any!

So please vote have fun and I will see you soon! Make it a great one!

I see 30s in the forecast and the Superbowl match up!

Good day to everybody! How are things going? We have had snow flurries just about every day the past two days! And more snow flurries are to come! Also all the champion NFL games where yesterday for both NFC and AFC. They was GREAT Games! However me being here and from Indiana I would have liked it a lot better if it was the Indianapolis Colts! But I love football so I still like to watch it! Here is the Superbowl match up! I have posted below! The Superbowl is on February 1st. SUPERBOWL 43!Now how about our weather? Well Yesterday while I was out I seen a lot of geese fly over my head and got a picture. You can see them rather well above! They where flying from East to West. I have really seen a lot of birds out lately! Could this mean an early Spring????? Well I think so! ;) I will have to keep checking out the long range model maps and keep you posted on that! Also to see if we can see anymore snow clipper systems! Another great ending to a good weekend was the sky! Now it did look better in person but still looks good in the pictures below!
You can see these nice Stratocumlus Clouds above. Stratocumlus May give way to a light precipitation but usually start to move out by the end of the day! We did however see the light snow flurries a little later on in that evening! It did not amount to much less the a half inch! But still a good dusting or cover if you like! We do have more chances for light snow flurries for today again not looking for much at all. And more chances up until Wednesday where a few light flurries can be expected!

Winds for today are looking between 5 and 10 mph. Nice and calm as well as tomorrow only between 10 and 15mph so I think blowing snow will be little if any! Now I know a lot if not all roads are looking good at this time but still some of the neighborhood roads are still snow covered! And I have seen people driving rather fast down them yesterday! So please even though the main roads are in Great shape some of the neighborhood roads are not. Now another good note is our temperatures! Yes we had a high yesterday of 27.3* degrees!!!!! I know I know this is HOT from the past few days of -20* degrees below zero we seen! ;) And today we can expect our highs to be around the mid to upper 20s! And lows in the mid teens! Still warmer then last week! And I do see 30s back in the forecast by Wednesday so that will give you all something to look forward to!

I hope you all have a great day! Have fun and I will check back soon!

Oh one more thing! If you like my weather blog and would like to find more weather blogs for here in Indiana! Here is another Blog I highly recommend! He is our local meteorologist Mike Prangley! He is by far the best meteorologist out there by me!!! ;-)

Quick Cast Forecast.

Quick Cast.................................................

Extended Outlook. Wednesday is looking great at this point and time! As well as Thursday! The best news is we are out of that bitter cold pattern! And I know of some people yesterday that where out cooking on the grill! Still chilly but good food! ;)
Here is your Quick Cast forecast map below! ((As of 1/18/09))

Snow flurries are in the forecast and the bitter cold will start to move out! ((Thanks to a warm front))

Well as someone stated that cake in the last post does look good! lol! And Joy said she had a great birthday!

Now to the weather! We are looking a lot better for today or should I say the start of our weekend! ;) We are looking for a few light snow flurries today starting after 5:pm this evening! However it is not looking like much maybe less then an inch! However it should put a light dusting on our already fallen snow pack! We have a chance of snow for just about every day for the next three to four days! Nothing is looking like much however we are still watching snow for Monday! Right now only around an inch but I will time that out and give a better stronger snowfall amount as it gets closer! Till then here is your quick cast below! ((As of 1/17/09))
You can see today we have that chance for snow after 5:pm with some winds between 15 and 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph at times! Making our daytime high wind chill feel like 7* degrees. Also this will blow around that snowfall we already have and the new light snow flurries to come!. More chances for snow off and on through out the day for Sunday! Tuesday into Wednesday is when we really start to look good as I see highs around that 30 degree mark! I know that will make a lot of you happy! Me I like the snow but could do without the bitter cold wind chills! Which that is another thing I wanted to point out! Tonight is the last night I see wind chills below zero! And it is only looking like -5* degrees below zero with the wind chill! Then we start to climb a little higher! I know I Bottomed out with a low last night of -12.8* degrees below zero! COLD! sums it up! lol. Here is a few more lows from last night around the area!

Lafayette -14.9* degrees below zero.

Remington -18* degrees below zero.

Tipton -17* degrees below zero.

------------------------------------------------

So we can see we where all well below zero last night! Now the weekend is here and again I do think we will look a lot better! Have a great weekend and I will catch up with you all a little later! I have to go see if I can get more pictures or something later on today of this beautiful we still have around!!! For now I will catch up on my sleep! lol! ;-) Have a great weekend! And don't work to hard! I will see you real soon!

Thank you for reading and thanks for your post!

To all back here in Indiana we do have a slight warm up coming for this weekend! I will talk more about that coming up a little later on tonight! See you all then!

More cold weather today! And the Dogs know how to stay warm!

Hey fellow Bloggers! We have had Below zero highs! Bitter cold wind chills below zero! And Snow all over the place!!!!! And we will get to all that! But First I wanted to let you all know that this is my 200th Blog post! It is hard to believe I have posted to you all that many times! And I can tell you there will be more to come! I can't wait to have my 300th post!

Now I can tell you I do see a warm up coming our way real soon! I think you all will be happy about that! ;) This has just been a freezing cold time! One which I think we will never forget! I mean how can you forget -15* degrees below zero without the wind chill?? I know I never will! I don't think the pets will forget it either!
You can see here Willie the Chihuahua And Dobby the Rat Terrier Had the right idea in this cold weather! With there little sweaters on and under the blankets! They where nice and toasty! ;)
Now about that slight warm up I was talking about!
We do have a fair friend coming! A small warm front which will be warming our temperature to the 20s by this weekend! I know 20s is not a lot but after the cold temperatures we have been seeing yesterday and will be seeing today! It will feel like Florida! OK maybe not but it will feel warmer!

Still for today we do have the wind chill warnings out for most of the state! And I still say if you don't have to go out today then it would be best to just stay home! As we are looking for a high today of only 10* degrees and with wind chill around -10* degrees! Now the nightly low is going to be around -8* without wind chill and with it it will feel like -35* degrees Below Zero!!!!! Again this is frost bite in LESS THEN TEN MINUTES! You need to take note and dress warm! There have been people say that the cold temperatures have made there skin feel like it was on fire! This is just some of the things you need to be on guard about! And the main parts that are most likely to get frost bite are your nose ears cheeks and fingers! So keep a close watch on these parts! Now also the more north you go the colder it will get as they have the deeper snow pack! More snow means colder temperature!

And again lets keep looking forward to the weekend! I will check back with you all later! Stay warm stay safe and keep in touch!

Indiana weather has given us the snow but now it hits us with the bitter cold!

We got what we was looking for snow wise! Nature worked with us for a change! The snowfall was beautiful and I have a pictures to show you! First off how about we start out with some snowfall totals posted below from around the area! You see we all seen a good amount of snow! I'M sure the kids around the area got a chance to get out and play before the hard cold hits! Which will be today! However it is not all fun! Although I had a lot of fun today! There was a lot of ice on sidewalks and drive ways! I know this because I fell down at least four times! I was out doing some scooping for the neighbors and I think I found just about every patch of ice! :-) lol! But I'M OK!!! We even got a chance to get out and play a little Snow Football! I know I know kid stuff right?? But I say you are never to old to play a good game of Snow Football! It was a great game against my older sister! I would like to point out she can (((((Hit Hard!))))) :) But it was fun then it was back to work! Here was the final score below!
Even though My team won we all had a great time and there where no hard feelings! And she has beat me many times in the past! (Maybe she let me win) Hum?????

Now back to weather! Take a look at these beautiful snowy pictures below! In the first picture you can see the sun shining on the snow! That's right we did see a break in the clouds later on in the evening! It really is a winter wonder land! And I guess you could say it was the calm before the Bitter Cold! Not to forget Dobby my dog was out yesterday playing and rolling around in the snow! I thought he had better have fun in it before the cold hits for they can get frost bite just as fast as we can! And he really loves the snow! :)

Now about the COLD! We already still have Wind chill Watches and Advisories out for much of the area!!!!! Here is the link.
NOAA's National Weather Service
We have highs today of only around -2* degrees without adding in the wind chills! We could see a few light snow flurries however it will not be much at all! Winds will be between 15 and 20 mph. Add these winds to our temperatures and we are looking at Daytime wind chills of -22* degrees! And night time wind chills of a dangerous -31* degrees below Zero! This is frost bite weather in less then Ten minutes!! If you can stay home that will be the best thing you can do!!! Travel is not advised! If you do however have to travel or go out then you should have a Winter survival kid handy! And a blanket! Just to be on the safe side! And this winter cold is going to last for a while! Even on Friday we will still see highs in the single digits without the wind chills! And lows in the near Zero range! Daytime wind chills around -11* degrees and Night time wind chills around -26* degrees! Another note is to keep a close watch on your pets as they go out! They can get frost bite very fast in this weather! So this is a bring the pets inside forecast! It is not safe for them either! We wont start to see a warm up until closer to the weekend! And even then we are still going to be in the 20s! Indiana weather you gotta love it! ;-)

So the best thing I can tell you for this cold weather this week is to dress smart in the Hats coats and Gloves! And uncovered skin can easily get frost bite! And no one needs that! So keep safe keep warm and I will see you soon! Have a great one! And keep in touch with your neighbors! It is always good to help someone else in need!
