Looking Into The Week Ahead!

Well, bloggers this has so far been a nice winter if your a snow lover like myself! Snow, snow, and more snow has been the forecast it seems all winter! YAY!! I love it! :) lol. Believe it or not we have snow on the ground in EVERY state but one! Take a look at this current snow depth map below. That's right. Snow in every state but FL!!! WOW! Ever since I've forecasted weather I have never seen this. I'm not saying it hasn't happened because I'm sure it has, However I have never seen it! This has been a winter for the books up to this point! Just amazing! :)

So what do we have in store for this week? Well, I know a lot of you have been asking about the weekend system and if it will be a Big snow or and Big dud! Well, I have your answer! First lets take a look at tonight's forecast. That's right, we will need to be extra careful between tonight into early tomorrow morning. As lows will drop to 15* degrees which will allow anything that melted on the roads earlier this afternoon to freeze up once again! So please take your time and be safe if your out! Otherwise winds will be right around 5 and 10 mph. So some blowing snow however nothing to bad!

As for your extended outlook! Well, we have Snow chances just about everyday this week into the weekend. Take a look.

Yes, a chance of snow flurries / snow showers just about everyday this week into the weekend! However not big snow chances. Mostly just a few scattered flurries are possible. However as we head into next week things could get tricky or should I say ugly! Now as for this weekend, I'm not seeing any big snows! Just more chances for some scattered snow flurries or snow showers. Snow accumulations would be minor as of now! However the bigger event we may be tracking will be between Monday night into Tuesday as models currently are snowing possible snow or a mix of snow sleet and freezing rain. But please note that this is a ways off. Around 5 or 6 days off! So we have much time for this to change. And I'm sure it will as they always do. But will it change for the better? Or worse? That's the question! So I will as always keep a close eye on this and keep you posted.

Until then lets take a look at your quick cast.

Quick Cast.....

Thursday we will look for mostly cloudy skies over much of the WLFI viewing area. Some lake effect snow will be likely in northern Indiana. So a few stray flurries cannot be ruled out. However overall we will be mostly cloudy across the viewing area. Highs will be around 22* degrees with lows that night around 15* degrees. Winds will be light between 5 and 10 mph which will make for a night time wind chill anywhere between 7* and 3* degrees.

Friday we will again look for mostly cloudy skies over the WLFI viewing area. However a few scattered snow flurries are also possible. Not looking for much at all in the way of snow accumulation at this time. Around a trace to a tenth inch if any. Highs will be around 27* degrees with lows around 17 degrees. Expect winds between 10 and 15 mph.

So again this weekend isn't looking bad with some scattered snow showers possible. But the start of next week could be messy! I'm watching the models closely for any changes and I will be sure to keep you posted.

Stay safe bloggers.

Take care and God Bless!

Justin,

Thanks for the updates. I am a school teacher in Lafayette and follow your blog more than other weather blogs. You seem to keep things real. I am a snow lover too! I definitely like snow when it comes to getting enough for two hour delays:) Thanks again for keeping us up to date. Duane
