This morning after watching the satellites and radar we seen that a good amount of dry air was moving into the area causing the snow amounts to drop. So we lowered the amount range to a 2" to 4" range with 3.6" Inches expected. And after looking at some of the numbers above it looks pretty close! Again I will have one more look at all of the final snowfall totals posted sometime tomorrow afternoon!
You can see below this has been a very beautiful snow from Mother Nature!
Yes, I snapped this photo from my front room looking out the window onto the deck. This little guy was jumping all through the snow and stopped by for a bite to eat. There is just something about squirrel's that are beautiful in the winter time. Maybe it's just me?!? :)
You can see the snow piled up on the cars across the WLFI viewing area. It sure does look like we have more then 3.5" inches however that's not the case. It's just a really light fluffy snow that can fool the eye! However also with this light fluffy snow this means any wind and it's going to Blow and Drift! Which I expect we will see later tonight into Wednesday. However I'll break that down in just a minute. but before I do I wanted to show you all a few things. You have seen the beautiful side of the snow however it can also be dangerous if your not careful!
You seen how the roads looked earlier this afternoon in my last post video. Also in this image taken in Lafayette, above. However what you may not have seen was all the slide offs across the Indiana area!
It's been a snowy day full of winter weather tracking and lots of slipping and shoveling! The road crews have been out all day doing the best job they can! And it seems that they are finally slowly starting to get the roads clear. Still things are VERY SLICK at this time! So please take your time and only go out if you have to. There have been some slide offs unfortunately! Take a look at this.An IPS bus was involved in a crash with two cars on I-70 westbound near Shadeland Avenue at around 3:00 pm. The bus driver was taken to Wishard Hospital. No children were on the bus.
I-69 in Anderson is experiencing slowdowns due to slide-offs and crashes.
On I-70 at Harding Street, a car spun out of control at around 10:00 am and wound up on its roof in the embankment. The 19-year-old driver was trying to change lanes when it happened. The driver was not injured and was able to get out of the car.Police say speed was not a factor.

And this is really just a few! This is why I stress the safety tips you can follow to help keep yourself and others safe every time we have snow in the forecast. It may get old to read however I will continue to have winter safety tip updates! Lets just pray that everyone stays safe!
Now what do we have to look forward to tonight? Well, lets take a look. That's right! Lows tonight will be COLD! Around 18* degrees with some blowing and drifting snow as we continue to head into the overnight hours. Winds will start out light between 5 and 10 mph only to pick up between 10 and 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph by Wednesday! And with our snow being so light and fluffy it will blow around without a problem! This could become dangerous so please take your time.
As for Wednesday! I'm going to keep the scattered light snow showers off and on through out much of the day in the forecast! Yes, along with the blowing and drifting snow with winds steady at 12 mph most of the time and gusting to 20 mph at times! Highs will be around 26* degrees with lows that night around 10* degrees. So what about any possible new snow accumulation?
.
Well, I think that tonight less then an inch. And then into Wednesday we will look for snowfall between a trace to a possible inch or two not totally out of the question. .
Thursday is looking okay with partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs around 20* degrees. Lows Thursday will be around 14* degrees. Winds light between 5 and 10 mph.
.
.
So again take your time if you heading out. And allow extra time tomorrow and late tonight as some blowing and drifting snow will become a threat!
.
Stay safe bloggers. And God Bless!
