Summer, Bunnies, And Storms, Oh My!!

You know it's Summer when you can wake in the morning to the sweet sound of Birds singing to the sunrise! And we have a lot of that here in Lafayette that is for sure! It was a really nice weekend and I got to spend some time with my doggie Dobby, You can see in this picture below that he was really enjoying being outside watching all the birds flying around and all the Bunnies running through the yard. However we will see the bunny in just a minute! :)He loves to sit out there with me just watching and hearing the wonderful sounds of Nature! He would sit out there all day if he could..... And if you think about it, If you were a Rat Terrier, and seen something like this picture below running in your yard would you be in a good mood?? LOL. The good thing is he is really good about not going after bunnies or birds. Which kinda took me by surprise!! Now if they were in the Back yard in his area maybe it would have been a different story?!?! Hummmmmm.................... :)Sorry this is not a real good close up however I did the best I could with my little camera phone! Ha Ha .... I just can not believe how many bunnies there are this year! I bet we have over four or five that run around our neighborhood. Most likely more! I watched two of them on Sunday running after a little squirrel. Really they own our street! And I know for a fact that I'M not the only one with Bunnies running around. I have had reports from all over and I really think there are many more this year then last year. Which is just fine with me..... They are so nice to watch as the sun sets!

Now how about the weather for today and even for later on this week???? Well, lets get to it!

These models have been ALL OVER! Today. And just to give you an idea here is just some of what makes forecasting so crazy and not something that is in any way a sure thing!

When forecasting the weather you have to look at many different weather models. Such as models like Lifted Index, CAPE, Helicity, EHI, 850MB Charts to help forecast Temperatures. We also have to look at your Precipitation maps, Also your European models, and GFS models and the list continues.......... What I have right now is one model wants to call for nothing more then a Tenth inch of rain between today and Wednesday. Another model wants to call for over two inches of rainfall in this short time. While two more show rainfall between .50" inches and .80" inches. You see my Dilemma!! :) My job is to pick out the models that are least likely to be wrong! Which as you all know can be very tricky!

So here is what the models are currently pointing to at this time. And please remember that these models change all the time. And I will have updates if they take a major turn! Currently we are looking for some Partly to mostly cloudy skies to start off the day. Then we will see some increasing clouds as the day continues. We will watch for some rain / Thundershowers to move into the area by later on late afternoon / evening. There is a slight risk for severe weather just to our south however after looking through the Helicity, Maps, CAPE, and EHI, it is looking like the better chance at severe thunderstorms would be to our south and west of the viewing area. Still with it being this close we will not rule out a stray strong storm or two just yet!

Though I don't think today is our biggest threat I do look for a better set up by Friday!! This is when we will see a warm front push through bringing temperatures pushing the low 90s only to have another cold front move in which will make us become more unstable and fire up some stronger storms. This is still a ways off to make a final call as you all know. However we will watch this developing system and I will keep you posted as it gets closer.....

And the flowers are all in full bloom that is for sure..... I cannot take the credit for these flowers. They are alive and blooming because my sister takes great care in them! Getting Ready To Talk The Signs Of Summer!

Are you ready to start the work week????? :)

Well, it was a wonderful weekend and I finally got to catch up on some much needed sleep!

Well, it is almost Summer as the first day is only a few days away! And I have some pictures to show you all of the first signs of Summer around the area that I just took this weekend. Let me just say that I have never seen so many bunnies in one year! Also when will we see our next chance at some rain showers back in the WLFI viewing area? And will our temperatures ever hit average and stay there? I will have all this and more posted on the Indiana Weather Blog through out this week.

Weekend Weather Blog Post Is ****HERE**** With Lots Of Weather To Talk About!!

Happy Weekend!!!!! Yes, it is the weekend which I think is everyone's favorite time of the week! The two best days are both Friday and Saturday..... And what a wonderful Friday it was! We did have a beautiful day with highs hitting a nice 76* degrees... And lots of Partly cloudy skies. Sure there was a lot of work to be done but what is better then work in beautiful weather???? LOL. And after work we did get the chance to head down to the "Lafayette Brewing Company" to have a little get together with some fellow weather bloggers and WLFI's evening meteorologist Chad Evens.

Now I could not get any pictures do to my camera problems however Teri, did send in this picture of Chad Evens, and yours truly. As you can see I'M not one who smiles much with my picture lol however it was a pretty nice time. There was some funny people there that is for sure with lots of talking going on. Really it was kinda hard to keep up with everyone at once lol. Everyone was wanting to know what the outlook is for today! Well, I don't think I should keep you all waiting so lets get right to it! Shall we??

Ok today we are looking for some mostly cloudy skies with still the slight chance at some more light rain showers in the morning / early afternoon. Currently I'M not looking at anything severe with this small system this time around which is great news! However we will see some light rainfall today anywhere between a Tenth inch and a Quarter inch possible. The good news is we are not looking at an all day rain!! Which is going to be a big help do to the fact that we have seen enough rain for a little while! We have yet to have a good dry spell..... The lawn mowers are having a hard time keeping up with the fast growing grass! All I can say is to hang in there Bloggers as some current weather models are showing some dry weather for both Sunday and Monday before we start looking at more rain chances on Tuesday night into Wednesday..... This is currently our next best chance. I will have more on this as we get closer as we will then fine tune this forecast even more!

A Foggy Start To A Nice Looking Day!!

Hey Bloggers. Well, we do have a little break in the rain before we see more move into our area by possibly tomorrow! I think we will stay dry today with Mostly to Partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 70s around 79* degrees. Winds look to be light around 10 to 15 mph with a low expected tonight around 57* degrees. However first off for all the morning drivers out there I want to let you all know to be ready for some Patchy fog in areas of the WLFI viewing area this morning. Fog can be hard to forecast however we are looking at our Dew Points really close to our surface temperature within three degrees. Which does support some patchy fog! SO remember to drive careful and allow yourself some extra time to get to work this morning!
Here are just a few helpful fog driving safety tips you all can take note of to help make us all better and or safer drivers in this wild Indiana weather we all know and love so much! ;) Take a look below..........

Drive with lights on LOW beam. High beams will reflect off the fog, creating a "white wall" effect.

Reduce your speed - and watch your speedometer. Fog creates a visual illusion of slow motion when you may actually be speeding.

Avoid crossing traffic lanes.

Travel with the drivers window partially open. Listen for traffic.

If your car is disabled or you cant continue, pull well onto the shoulder and turn off lights. Move away from your vehicle.

Consider postponing your trip until the fog lifts.

So when is our next chance at some more rain???? Well, currently Saturday is looking like a slight chance at some more light rain. Currently any rainfall on Saturday would only be around a tenth inch with locally higher amounts in areas. Not looking for anything severe which is great news! However we will see our next real chance at some rain / Thundershowers again by later on Monday into Tuesday. However we will talk more about that as we continue to get closer! It really is to early to call for anything severe! The weather models are a great help to give us an idea however they change all the time! This is why I will check back on this as we get closer!

The above saying may be true because lady bugs store heat in their shells. If it gets too warm, they start flying to dissipate the heat. Of course, this means it is already warm, not that it is going to be warm!

Rainy Rainy Rainy Over The Indiana Area!!! Bloggers Remember Your Umbrella's!!!!!

Waking up to more of this wet mess!!!!! Yes, rain on the windows just makes you want to sleep more! Well, we will be seeing this rain through out much of the day off and on. I do however think when all is said and done most of the WLFI viewing area will be looking at rainfall between a half inch and one inch possible and we cannot rule out a few locally higher amounts in thunderstorms possible. Now I do want to be clear that we are not expecting to see anything severe with this low pressure in our area or as I should say in the WLFI viewing area at this time! I think anything severe would stay from I74 south. Still we cannot rule out some scattered thunderstorms with this low pressure system!

Here is a look at a map I put together for you all below. You can see just what we are looking at for today!
Lot's of green is for sure! We will be seeing our highs staying right around 73* degrees today as that weak cold front will try and make it's move on us here by later on this evening into tonight. We will look for our lows tonight to fall into the lower 60s around 61* degrees. Which really is right around where we should be for this time of year! Now with all this talk of rain today do we see any break in the weather anytime soon???

Well, I do think that after today's rainfall we will start to see a little break in the weather! Well, at least enough to finish out this week. Then we can talk more about rain again closer to the start of next week.
