Yes, bloggers the National weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for our area until 10:00pm tonight. This is in effect because it seems we have the current weather to support possible severe weather development. Here's one reason why below!

This image above is a look at our current Lifted Index (LI) and it's showing us currently around -3 which is slightly unstable. However even more unstable amounts to our west with -4 to -6 Lifted Index. The purple area is the area I would expect the best chance for severe weather to pop up however we will watch it closely here at home as well.

EHI values are low here at home at this time which is good news! However again the more to our west you go the slightly more unstable it gets. We will watch this closely overtime!

You can see in the satellite image below how some thunderstorms are already starting to pop up in the IL, area.
Now below is a closer image (Radar image) of that storm above in the yellow area.

You can see it is already showing signs of a mesocyclone! When storms pop this fast things can become tricky. This is why we have been put into a severe thunderstorm watch until 10:pm tonight.

So I will continue to watch the data over the next few hours and I'll keep you posted as needed.

God Bless!
