It is crazy looking on satellite right now as we have scattered snow and rain showers in the west, and high pressure taking over in the east giving way to clear skies across the area. Take a look at how divided it is below.
This high pressure is going to keep us with partly cloudy skies across the area over the next few days however things will change as the cold front from the west barrels down on Indiana soon enough. Snow showers and rain currently in the west where that low pressure is above. A lot colder air is in place.
Look at how much colder it is currently in the west. Temperatures from 33* degrees to 15* degrees right now! 60s and 70s in the east. 45* to 50* degrees in the Midwest. This is the time of year when temperatures change like crazy. As we head closer to Sunday and Monday, that is when we will see the colder air return to the area bringing some rain and even some rain snow mix chances!
This cold front you see above is what will make things messy to start next week. This chart is looking into Sunday. We will see that cold front move closer to the area bringing rain chances as we head into Sunday night and Monday. Rainfall could be between .25" and .75" inches. We will see some gusty winds along with it. I'll have more details on that in just a moment.
As I said above, some models are showing the chance for some snow showers on the back side of this system Monday. Here is a look at the Bufkit model above. You can see the blue bars showing up Monday morning between 8:am and 11:am EST. We won't see any accumulation out of this however it will be nice for any snow lovers to get a peak at the wintry precipitation. Here is your detailed forecast below.
TONIGHT- we will see partly cloudy skies across the area. Winds will be light tonight between 10 and 15 mph. Expect a low around 44* degrees.
SATURDAY- we will see partly cloudy skies across the area with a mild high near 70* degrees. Winds will be slightly breezy between 10 and 15 mph gusting between 25 and 28 mph. A low Saturday night will be around 48* degrees.
SUNDAY- we will start out the day with partly cloudy skies, however clouds will increase as the day continues. We will be tracking that cold front moving in with rain showers out in front. Expect scattered showers to move into the area by Sunday evening into Monday. The main rain event will be around 1:am into later Monday morning. Currently expecting rainfall between .25" and .75" inches. A high around 67* degrees with a low that night around 45* degrees. Winds will be breezy between 15 and 20 mph gusting between 30 and 35 mph.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK- Some rain may change over to some snow showers as we head into later Monday morning. Little to no snow accumulation is expected. We will see the temperatures cool off once again after that cold front moves through the area. We're talking about highs only in the 40s and 50s again starting Monday.
