Rain Rain Go Away Bring The Sunny Skies Our Way!

Hey I'M back with just a quick update! Did anyone notice that our good friend checked in on us Yesterday?? It's true! Check out some of the older comments to find out who! ;)Now what do we have to look forward to tonight? Well, we will see another cold front try to push through our area again by later on tonight. This means some more thunderstorms will be possible! You can see in the radar image above that this squall line is currently in IL, and moving our way slowly but surly! Now the timing may change a little however I believe some of the WLFI viewing area will see some scattered rain showers move in by closer to 8:pm this evening. Then the main front is looking like it will try and make a move on us by around Midnight. We will continue to watch this and I will be back if the timing should change. You can count on it!

So our main threats will be, More Heavy Rain. We can look for rainfall between a Half inch to Three quarters of an inch when all is said and done.

Lightning will be a threat again as with any thunderstorm so just remember your lightning safety tips and you will be fine! ;)

And last but not least Gusty winds once again! Yes we could see more winds gusting to 30 - 35 mph later on tonight. Currently it is looking like this would be closer to 11:pm or Midnight as well.

Still we will not rule out a possible stray severe t-storm however our CAPE values are looking around 1.000 j/kg which is good and Lifted Index is looking to stay around -4. Also it is looking like wind shear will stay in IL, and south west. Our tornado threat is only at a real slim 5% chance at this time and I think we will keep it that way! Which is not bad based on the latest weather maps. Main Severe looks to stay to our west and south. Still I will be popping in as needed. I would not cancel any plans you may have for Tomorrow as I don't look for an all day rain! I think we will wake up with a few left over lingering rain showers and things should start to clear up by early morning. Then we all will be able to enjoy some Partly cloudy to sunny skies that afternoon. Which we all could use! :)

Yes, we do still have those Flash flood watches and flood warnings in effect for our parts of the WLFI viewing area.. You can see above where the river is currently at and that is around 12.64ft which is just over a foot and a half above flood stage which is really not to bad! However we are expected to crest today around 8:pm this evening at around 14.9ft like we have been talking about on here the past few days..... We all knew that flooding would be a main threat in yesterdays thunderstorms and it was! Also farmers are having to deal with some crop flooding in areas. This may slow things down for them. What we really need is just some good old sun shine for a few days to dry up all this water. We are just waterlogged in areas. Lafayette had a total from Tuesday to Wednesday of 2.50" inches!! Can you believe it?? That is a big amount of rain that is for sure! And we still have some more rain on the way! When you ask? Well, by later on this evening into tonight!
Above is a map I put together to show you all what we are looking for. This is our next system we will track and our next chance at some more thunderstorms. This image is late tonight into early Saturday morning. Now currently it is looking like we will see the rain starting to move into parts of the WLFI viewing area between 8:30pm and Midnight. Current models are showing most of us picking up rainfall between a Half inch to Three quarters of an inch possible. Maybe a few locally higher amounts in thunderstorms is likely. And you all know that I will pop back in later on this evening with the latest on not only timing but also rainfall amounts! So do check back! ;)

I do think we will have some time to dry out and I know all the farmers will like this! Some of the latest model runs are showing Indiana with almost a full week of dry weather!! Yes, currently it is looking like we will try to dry out by Saturday afternoon with some partly cloudy skies and highs around 73* degrees..... We will however be watching our temperatures go up and down from the middle 60s and then back up to the lower 70s again! I know some of you would like it to be warmer yet but for now lets all just enjoy these nice cool temperatures. Summer will be here before you know it!

Looking Much Better As The Storm Is Making It's Way Off The The East

Above is the radar image at 3:18AM and you can see that the main red line of thunderstorms is well to our east! However all that yellow is not! Well we will continue to see this moderate rain through out the night until it starts to let up and push out of the WLFI viewing area closer to 6:am or 7:am this morning. Now I don't think we will be seeing an all day rain Today.. I think after this rain pushes off by closer in the morning we will then start to clear out a bit with some Partly cloudy skies. Which will be a nice and much needed treat after the night we all just had tracking this wild Indiana weather we all love so much! :)

Now one thing we do still have to watch is going to be the area rivers! Yes, the Wabash River is expected to crest on Friday around 8:pm at around 14.9ft which is almost four feet above flood stage. Also after all this rain we seen we can also see some low land flooding in areas.... Now what we need is some dry weather for a little while..........

We did miss out on most of the severe weather which I'M sure you all are very thankful for! And this is because we did stay with light rain and cloud cover through out most of the day Yesterday! This did help a lot to keep us more stable.. We was however still unstable enough to support some thunderstorms and that is what we seen. That and the high gusty winds!

I want to say think you all for your weather reports from your areas! This really does help to know what is going on at your location..... I think we all did a wonderful job keeping one another updated which is what this Blog is all about! Keeping one another safe! That is what counts!! ;) Now we will like I said dry out today with some Partly cloudy skies to enjoy as a much needed break which I think we all need! Then we will see more rain move in by Friday along with some thunderstorms possible and also our next system to track will be Saturday! However we will talk more about this later on tonight! Things Are Looking Better!!

OK we will be seeing this heavy rain through out much of the night into early morning Thursday..... Winds will try and die down here later on after this first main line passes. Then we will still deal with the moderate to heavy rainfall..... Some areas Doppler is showing still a possible 1 to 2 inches an hour falling!!

Winds are still gusting in areas to 35 to 45 mph with slightly higher in storms!

Other then these high winds we did miss out on all the tornadoes and hail..... No it is not over yet and we will continue to watch this as this system keeps pushing off to the north and east! What we are seeing now is pretty much it. Once these winds down die down and move off to the east we will still be seeing the rain but other then that things will start to look better! Then it is all about the Rivers and all this flooding and heavy rainfall that we don't really need.

Remember the Flood warnings are still in effect!

Montgomery county areas has a cell that Doppler is showing some Heavy rainfall of 2" to 4" inches an hour and possible Pea to Marble sized hail!! This system will be moving off the the east north East.

Cells is IL, around Danville, that will be heading into Fountain county that currently has winds gusting near 70 mph possible..... This cell is just south of Danville IL, and moving East north East...

The Weather cam is picking up lightning in Lafayette, Still looking at that cell in Newton, county and Jasper, county. Heavy rainfall Doppler is showing rainfall coming down at an inch to two inches an hour. With possible pea size hail and winds gusting to 52 mph possible in storms.
