A Look At Our Main Storm Threat's!!

Hey everybody it is GREAT to check in with you all again. Yes, we will be running updates off and on as needed through out the day but currently it is looking like I can give you all some better news! Would you like that?? :) I'M sure you would lol. Well, OK then lets get to it! You can see above in the map that we will be seeing this warm front push through this morning which is what is bringing us this light to moderate rain. Don't be alarmed to hear some thunder this morning as that is possible. Nothing severe which is good news. Now I'M still up after 3:am tonight so I can stay up with the latest weather models and keep you all with the latest info! And after looking at some new model runs I'M seeing our CAPE values much lower around 1000 j/kg which is much better then what we was seeing earlier yesterday afternoon which was closer to 1,500j/kg to 2,000j/kg.. Currently it is looking like the higher CAPE will stay to our west in IL, areas. This is also where they have more wind shear to work with which is needed for tornado formation. Currently I think we will keep tornadoes on the lower side around 5% as you can see below. This map I put together to show you all what will be our main storm threat's today!You can see with the lower CAPE I think we will keep hail chances at a lower risk at only 15%. Still we will not rule out Small hail in storms just yet! Wind is looking like a bigger threat at this time as some of the latest weather models are showing some winds between 20 and 25 with gusts to 35 maybe even 40 mph at times outside of thunderstorms! So we will watch this closely as well. Lightning will be a threat as with any thunderstorm. Remember where there is thunder there is lightning!! ;) So remember your lightning safety tips as always! Heavy downpours will also be a threat as we could wake up with rainfall in our rain gauge between a quarter to a half inch possible. Then we could very well pick up another three quarters of an inch to one inch of rain when that main line of storms moves through sometime around 7:pm this evening.

So again it is currently looking like this will be a squall line that will ride along this cold front like most storms do in the Midwest. And also the models are pointing to IL, being the better place for the worst and or most severe. Still we will not rule out some moderate storms to some stray severe as well. We will be ready for anything as always here in Indiana. This is why I will run another update later on today so be sure to check back for the latest here on the Indiana Weather Blog...
